The question for some of us is, why some people want to keep working decades beyond retirement age? CNN Opinion editor Stephanie Griffith asked seven people who are past the conventional retirement age why they are still at the job and got as many responses as there were respondents. They continue to work happily and productively, and were happy to explain to us how and why they do it. Over the years I’ve had to adapt frequently to the changing technology, which isn’t always easy for someone my age. That may be the secret of working well past the time society tells us we’re supposed to retire.

How Mark Zuckerberg turned against the news

Mark Zuckerberg held regular discussions in 2017 and early 2018 about how to make news on Facebook more trustworthy and reliable. "Giving people a voice is not enough without having people dedicated to uncovering new information and analyzing it," Zuckerberg wrote. Zuckerberg also considered a permanent subsidy through his philanthropy the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative. Murdoch and Zuckerberg's yearslong relationship, while never outright friendly, turned "tense, very tense," when Australia passed the NMBC, a person who worked with Zuckerberg said. When Canada passed a law similar to Australia's last year, Meta simply and decisively turned off news content on Facebook and Instagram.

Gazan journalists told CNN they are haunted by their colleagues’ deaths, as they balance the emotional labor of covering the war with trying to protect their families. After nearly seven months of war, Abu Dagga told CNN that she, too, wants to leave. Raul Rubiera | Miami Herald | Getty ImagesWhen Carolyn Lamb saw news of Cuban spy Victor Manuel Rocha's arrest on the news last December, she recognized him immediately. The lower the value of the claims, the less the Cuban government would have to pay in any future negotiated settlement. Ashby assumed Rocha's paranoia about eavesdropping was in response to the George W. Bush administration's opposition to the Cuba claims buying business. But according to the Justice Department, by that point Rocha was already in his third decade as a Cuban agent. Donald Trump has added something new to the practice of extracting money from major donors: fear. Trump has also talked of prosecuting officials at the F.B.I. In public, Trump has vowed to appoint a special prosecutor to “go after” President Biden and his family. Trump has claimed without evidence that the criminal charges he is facing — a total of 88 across four state and federal indictments — were made up to damage him politically. Trump has made “retribution” a central theme of his campaign, seeking to intertwine his own legal defense with a call for payback against perceived slights and offenses to “forgotten” Americans.

Times Insider explains who we are and what we do and delivers behind-the-scenes insights into how our journalism comes together. When Ron Lieber arrived at The Wall Street Journal’s office in 2002 for a job interview, a couple of editors immediately sized him up. “They said, ‘We know what your beat is: beating the system,’” said Mr. Lieber, who had last worked as a senior writer for Fast Company covering management, design and careers. “And now you’re going to come here and do that for us.”After cofounding the Personal Journal section of The Wall Street Journal and writing a separate money management column, he was hired by The New York Times in 2008 to take over Your Money, a personal finance column. Sixteen years later, he has gained a reputation for offering readers advice — often tinged with his own experience — on headache-inducing issues, like how to navigate the maze of paying for college or prepare for life after a layoff.

Here’s what to know:When are the Michigan primary and convention, and how do I vote? Additionally, the state’s Republican Party will host a nominating convention on March 2. At the Republican nominating convention, only delegates, a group of elected party loyalists, can participate in the caucus-style event. Donald J. Trump lost his civil fraud trial on Friday, as a judge found him liable for violating state laws and penalized him nearly $355 million plus interest. In total, Mr. Trump is expected to have to pay more than $450 million. Along with other punishments, he also barred the former president from leading any company in the state, including portions of Mr. Trump’s family business, for three years. Mr. Trump will appeal, and the case could take months if not years to resolve. One of the most difficult conversations you can have in life is with a parent or peer who is becoming too old and infirm to work. Whether the infirmity is physical or mental, often your loved one is the last person to realize his own deficiencies, so he may interpret respectful, genuine concern as a personal attack. This conversation is difficult enough when it’s conducted entirely in private with friends and family. It’s infinitely more difficult when it plays out in public and involves the president of the United States. The top-line conclusion of the special counsel Robert Hur’s report regarding the discovery of classified information at Joe Biden’s home is good for the president.

Mr. Murphy, a Republican, believes Mr. Biden is not up to another term. “I look at him as a peer,” said Ms. Meyer, who plans to vote for Mr. Biden. By Max HunderKYIV (Reuters) - Ukraine's armed forces must adapt and find innovative ways to fight to achieve victory over Russian invaders, Kyiv's new armed forces chief said on Friday, in his first public remarks since taking command. Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi, previously commander of ground forces, was promoted on Thursday to overall command of Ukraine's 800,000-strong armed forces, the biggest shakeup of top brass since the war began, coming at a challenging time. The cautious, pragmatic tone was notably short of the soaring rhetoric used by Ukrainian politicians throughout the war. The Latest Photos From Ukraine View All 91 ImagesDefence Minister Rustem Umerov said he had introduced Syrskyi to the General Staff, and promised "all possible support for the actions and decisions of the command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine". In his announcement yesterday, Zelenskiy said Syrskyi would present his new team with the aim of "resetting" the military.

The problem with this approach is that most Republican voters do not want an alternative to Trump; they overwhelmingly back him. At least that’s what the Nikki Haley campaign said after finishing second to former President Donald Trump in the New Hampshire primaries on Tuesday. Democratic nominee Bill Clinton and third-party candidate Ross Perot exploited that division in the Republican Party against Bush in the fall. The Republican Party is united behind Trump, and with optimal conditions for an opponent like Haley, Trump was still unstoppable. “Democrats deserve options, and it’s not clear at all that President Biden can beat Donald Trump.
